I start my day at 5:30, to get up and catch my 6:30 train. I hop on, and ride for the 4-hour journey from Innsbruck to Vienna.

The view out the window is nice, but not as nice as the way in

When I make it out of the station, I grab a city bike and head to the Belvedere gardens. Belvedere is a historic building complex built as a summer residence for a prince. Today, it’s open to the public.

The gardens themselves are very nice, filled with square bushes and statues. It looks like they put a lot of effort into maintaining them.

There’s also this nice fountain right outside, totally unrelated. I didn’t get to see any fountains in Barcelona because of their drought, so I tell myself that this makes up for it.

I head to a latin restaurant recommended by my dad, and have the best fries I’ve had in a while. Their arepas are OK; if you go, I’d recommend getting something different.

As I walk around the area, I can’t help but notice how much road there is. Many parts of Vienna are quite pedestrian-friendly, but this road feels like Carling.

It’s noisy and unpleasant to walk alongside it, so I dip into a side road instead.

I wander back through the main part of the city, through streets lined with fun-looking shops and restaurants.

At least they're not shy about it!

As it grows late, I become tired and want to call it a day. Unfortunately I’m met with some bad news: my AirBnb host has gone AWOL, and gives me no directions for check-in.

After about an hour of back-and-forth with AirBnb, they refund my reservation and give me a $100 voucher.

I stay in a Wombat hostel for the night, which is clean and gets the job done.
